For young people in Serbia is very difficult to find their first job, bearing in mind that employers are looking for experienced workers. For young Roma, this is even more difficult, because they often face prejudice and discrimination when looking for a job. Within the project “Employment Empowerment of Young Roma – phase 2”, Roma Education Fund Representative Office in Serbia provides support to young people in strengthening their competencies and improving their competitiveness in the labor market. For this support to be comprehensive, the needs of young Roma are taken into account, as well as the needs of the employers themselves, i.e. the labor market. In accordance with the occupations that are looking for employees, young people are advised and given the opportunity to professionally improve and direct their careers in these occupations. At the same time, in order for young people to be as successful as possible when looking for a job, they are supported in strengthening their professional skills, which include training for CV and cover letter writing, as well as preparing for a successful job interview.
Having in mind the great interest of young people in improving their skills of CV and cover letter writing, preparing for a successful job interview, Roma Education Fund Representative Office in Serbia in cooperation with company LESTE began creating an online learning platform that will train for strengthening competencies and competitiveness in the labor market. The online learning platform is an innovative method for motivating young people to take part and complete training from their homes, training that is interactive, based on the needs and experiences of young Roma including young representatives of Roma community. In a completely innovative way, young Roma will have the opportunity to learn how to create an email address, how to search for a job on the Internet, how to create a CV and cover letter, how to prepare themselves for a job interview and leave a good impression to the employer. The online platform will be available at the end of August and all those interested will be able to access it via Facebook page and Instagram profile REF Serbia – employment.
