The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the declaration of a state of emergency in the Republic of Serbia, have affected the health, social, economic and educational segment of life of Roma. Roma Education Fund Representative Office in the Republic of Serbia continued to support the education of Roma children and young people, and promote accurate informing and protective measures in all cities and municipalities in Serbia.
In order to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, Roma Education Fund devoted all available resources in strengthening and fostering solidarity, community and cooperation, both among all relevant state institutions, the civil sector, associates, and within the Roma community itself. For that reason, a video campaign involving partners and project beneficiaries within “Employment Empowerment of Young Roma” project was streamed online.
Leading idea of online video campaign was to motivate Roma community, suggest activities that could be taken during the working hours in the state of emergency, as well as those activities that could be taken for quality free time, and all this with the aim to keep the positive atmosphere within Roma community. Mentors, project beneficiaries and Roma civil sector representatives showed their willingness to participate in online video campaign.
